Do Xbox 360 gamers envy Sony PS3 users for getting Gran Turismo 5 prologue?
If you was to ask many gamers what they think is the best racing series, many would say Gran Turismo. Some have been better than others, but going by all the hype Gran Turismo 5 prologue looks as though it could be the best yet.

This is great news for Sony PS3 owners, however if you own a Microsoft Xbox 360 then you will not get the chance to play this game. However there are still a great number of racing games for the Xbox 360, like Forza 2 and the Need for Speed series.

If you own an Xbox 360 and had the choice of any racing game, then what would your choice be?

Umm I dont own a 360 lol. I own PS3. Gran Turismo all the way.

But to answer your question, most of them will say Need For Speed series.

  2. sandcracka on March 25th, 2008 7:14 pm

I wouldn’t know. I don’t own a crapbox 360. One thing I do know….I’ll definitely be playing GT5 Prologue when it comes out.

I love my PS3, and my PS3 loves me!

  3. rrrrrrrrr on March 25th, 2008 7:20 pm

This is the dumbest story ever.

No 360 owner is going to say GT5 is better than Forza and PGR but the facts speak for themselves.

The 4 previous GT games have sold 50m units which is an average of 12.5m each which makes it far bigger than even Halo which sells an average of just 8m per game.

Incidentally PGR4 sold just 600,000 worldwide while GT5 Prologue has sold 1m on pre orders just in the EU and its just a demo.

  4. Nerull on March 25th, 2008 7:57 pm

I’m still a last gen owner right now but I plan on getting a ps3 once the price drops again. Gran turismo is the last reason I would choose one over an xbox though.
I loved the first one and have played the rest at some time or another. The problem is they’re all the same game. Same boring cars that handle like a brick with the same boring upgrades with half the same tracks. It’s the same **** sandwich just with a bit more polish to make the graphics nuts drool (My saliva gets worked up to but thats cuz gt makes me want to spit on the devs.
They didn’t add a single feature until the 3rd freakin sequel with… a camera… I yawned so hard I heard something snap.
Now with 5 they’ve finally decided to grace us with damage, so it’s somehow revolutionary to catch up to what other games have had for like a decade?
I could go on but I think it’s pretty obvious that gran turismo is the most overhyped overglorified piece of gaming garbage to ever hit the headlines.
When I make the jump I’ll take burnout since I’ve had more fun playing the instore demo in 10 minutes than all the gt series put together.

I can’t wait for GT5, looks amazing. My friends who own an xbox claim its crap and PGR4 is greta, but really i saw PGR4 as a poor, cheap initiation of Gran Turismo. PS3 is by the most vlauable console on the market, it offers so much more

  6. Woody on March 25th, 2008 8:07 pm

PS when i said “initiation” i meant “Imitation” lol :D

  7. Woody on March 25th, 2008 8:08 pm

    i meant imitation not initiation

  8. James on March 25th, 2008 8:08 pm

Own an Xbox 360 and do not own a PS3. Gran Turismo? Keep hearing about it being delayed and haven’t showed anything running on the PS3 just computer. Worth the wait???? Probably not. Personal opinion… no sleep lost and no money wasted on the PS3 or GT.

  9. Jonathan on March 25th, 2008 8:21 pm

wow . . . gay bait, that’s all this is.

According to who is the Grand Tourismo series? oh yeah . . .Play Station owners . . .I’ve never liked that game - you can’t leave the course, the whole thing feels like a really bad sim.

  10. juan on March 25th, 2008 8:54 pm

    Gran Turismo all the way

  11. Pete on March 25th, 2008 9:04 pm

What are you talking about? GT5 Prologue was released in Japan last year and is released in the EU and US in the next 2 weeks.

  12. Pat on March 25th, 2008 9:39 pm

Um I do not envy PS3 owners. GT5 is looking like GT4 in hi def without damage modeling (unless they added it and I didn’t know) and no upgrades to the cars that change the look of the car beyond stock. That’s boring. And I love the fact that you will probably just bounce off all the other cars with no consequences. Forza is a much better game for tuners and sim fans, and Project Gotham 4 is a much better arcade game for those fans. I would put GT5 in third place in terms of enjoyment factor.

  13. cane on March 25th, 2008 10:44 pm

I’ll keep this short because Pat has said it all, when GT1 and 2 where out i quite enjoyed them but i’ve since played other racing games with much better Game mechanics and computer AI and no longer enjoy the series.

PGR4 is ok but i prefer sim to arcade and as far as i’m concerned Forza 2 is the king of console racing games right now.

I’ll keep an open mind and try Prologue but from what i hear the play mechanics AI arent much different from the previous games and i haven’t really enjoyed the series for some time.

  14. jeff on March 25th, 2008 10:45 pm

I own a xbox 360 and not a crappy “poserstation 3″. Who cares about GT5? I rather play Forza 2 or Project Gotham 4 for 360.

  15. jay on March 25th, 2008 11:20 pm

Yea, and we will get gt4 as well!

  16. skidz on March 25th, 2008 11:33 pm

err, as a 360 owner will I miss GT5? ummmmmmm,,,,,,,,no…….this is a silly article bringing those fanboys to slate the 360 amd it is all silly…each console has its merits…I will get ps3 when blu ray is bog standard DVD in store etc and atm, I have a PSP, DS and a Wii too so not into this insane sony fanboyism…

  17. OMEN on March 25th, 2008 11:39 pm

ha haaa look at the M$ fanboys talk.
GT games have 100s of cars, ofcurse theywant the game.

  18. TheSketcher on March 25th, 2008 11:42 pm

best racer ever, and it will be that way for a while.

    wii = funny
    xbox 360 = fps
    ps3 = verity and power

  19. ChrisB on March 26th, 2008 3:04 am

Lol, the 360 fanboys are crying right now. The 360 is past its prime, now is the time of the PS3.

If you’re undecided between the two:

If you prefer graphics, the Playstation 3 excels in a lot of multi-platform games, and the 360 excels in some, too. Rainbow Six Vegas 2, Devil May Cry 4, Burnout Paradise, and many other games have slightly to much better graphics on the PS3, and games like Assassin’s Creed are better on the 360.

When it comes to controls, opinions are also split. The 360 controller is nice, and the triggers are well placed, but most of the other buttons are. The PS3 black Sixaxis controller is decent, but out of the three controllers I am about to finsih mentioning, the DualShock 3 controller blows them all away. The weight is perfect, you can get them in black or white, the controls are by far the tightest and most responsive I have ever seen on any video game console, and the rumble is amazing. Try buying some DualShock 3 controllers for your PS3, they’re the best controllers you could find for a game console that actually counts (which excludes the Wii).

Then it comes down to some smaller things:

The 360 has a very loud, obnoxious fan, while the PS3’s is much more quiet

The PS3 is heavier than the 360

The 360 supports up to 4 controllers, the PS3 supports up to 7

The PS3 has built in wireless, a memory card and SD card reader, 4 USB ports, HDMI, and an upgradable hard drive. You could stick with the 80, 60, or 40 Gigs, but I upgraded to 200, which is very easy if you can find any hard drive.

The 360 has XBL, which is very good, but actually costs money, which varies on the type of membership you have. The Playstation Network is alright, with most of the bare necessities, but it’s absolutely free.

The Playstation 3 can play PS1 and PS2 games, as well as connect to the PSP in many ways. The 360, since it is made by Microsoft, can connect to a PC in various ways, too.

Most importantly, in my opinion, it comes down to exclusives. As an owner of a 360, PS3, Gamecube, PSP, and some older video game crap, I was disappointed by some games, but especially by the 360’s. Out of the grossly hyped 360 games over the past years, the only ones I actually liked were Gears, and I somewhat liked Halo 3. Bioshock wasn’t very good despite the reviews, imo, Halo 3… oh, Halo 3. For the most hyped, most highly overrated game in gaming history, Halo 3 sucked. It was an average game at best, and it did not deserve all the attention at all. Based on the hype, I was expecting a game from the heavens, and this one was a decent FPS.

I liked Dead Rising, although it was short, Mass Effect sucked horribly, and Lost Odyssey was kind of weird because I’m not much into japanese RPGs.

Then comes the Playstation 3 exclusives, which I believe are some of the greatest and most fun to play games based on my experience with the various consoles. Resistance was awesome, it was my first PS3 game, and the online community was amazing. I regret playing different games these days, but the 6 entire months I spent becoming a near expert and world-ranked Resistance player was the greatest gaming experience I have ever had.
Then came Motorstorm, a great game for racing fans, Heavenly Sword, Warhawk, an amazing online game, Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted, Flow, Everyday Shooter, Pixeljunk Monsters, Folklore, Eye of Judgment, Time Crisis 4, and Unreal Tournament III. All of these games are amazing, and if you don’t have them yet, I recommend checking out at least a few.

The next part is probably the most important. If you don’t like the PS3, you don’t have to, but pretty soon you’re going to regret not getting one if you don’t have one already. The PS3 is getting Haze, Metal Gear Solid 4, LittleBigplanet, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Online, Gran Turismo 5, God of War III, Killzone 2, Resistance 2, Jak and Daxter, Timesplitters, Socom, Afrika, Kingdom Hearts, Loco Roco, and Tekken 6. If this list doesn’t make you want to get a PS3 and join the community, then you must already have a PS3 xD

Personally, I’d have to say I enjoy my PS3 more than my 360. In the long run its cheaper… and… very unfortunately, I can’t enjoy my 360 right now because I’m wating for it to be shipped back. This has been my 4th RROD, and I’m really pissed at this point. With the PS3’s .01% failure rate, and the 360’s 15% (which dropped from about 30%) is still horrible. I played Gears for an entire month hoping my 360 wouldn’t crap out, and it ruined the experience. Why does my 360 break, while my PS3, laptop, iPod, and TV run perfectly?

Well Stephen, this discussion has gone pretty well. A vast majority of the comments were really helpful and intellectual. I’m surprised how many people took the same route as I did by playing their 360 less often in favor of the PS3. I’ve been playing my Playstation 3 so often recently that I don’t know what I’m going to do once my RROD’d 360 gets shipped back.

Like some people have said, the 360 had reached and now is past its prime. It was released a year earlier, so it makes sense, but it seems like the PS3 is the console to own now.

As for GTAIV, I pre-ordered the special edition for my PS3 a while ago. The GTA series was made for and it became known for what it is on the Playstation consoles, and playing a Grand Theft Auto game on my Dual Shock controller feels more natural. I’m not even sure if my 360 will be shipped back before the launch of GTAIV any way…

PS3 = Not so large Variety of movies. Who give a shit about another dumb ass racing game. I own Zero racing games.

  21. adz on March 26th, 2008 3:48 am

yes great game can’t wait n if u want damage mud etc one word ms fanboys motorstorm 2 baby. ok thats more than 1 buy a ps3 tight arses!!!! P.s on mine now lol

  22. spencer on March 26th, 2008 3:58 am

GT5 all the way anyone who says different is lying to you. The sales speak for themself if the GT5 demo just in eroupe is outselling the 360 games and were talking just europe alone for gt5 and worldwide for 360 that shows what people want to play period.

  23. Ivan_PSP on March 26th, 2008 4:51 am

Lucky me i have a 60GB PLAYSTATION 3 and a preorder for Grand Turismo: Prolouge. PLAYSTATION 3 has the best and the most and the highest quality games and more HD power. Than Xbox 360 on PC for that matter.

  24. Jim on March 26th, 2008 1:05 pm

Any “gamer” who happens to only own a 360 and likes racing games KNOWS GT is the best and obviously wants it. The only box owners here claiming otherwise are fanboys, and they are just perpetual victims of the Infamous MS FUD campaign, keep it up xbots, you’ll be robots and no longer have to think for youselfs in no time.

  25. Dan on March 26th, 2008 6:17 pm

Personally, I thought the GT series just didnt get any better than GT2 - the 2 discs (Arcade and Sim) on the original PlayStation. GT3 was just GT2 with slicker graphics… nothing new… GT4 was, well, it WAS pretty, but….??? !!!!

GT5 - well, Im gonna have to really let this one grow on me.. gonna have to put some very SERIOUS hours into it before I make my judgement… it took absolute AGES to actually “get into” the very first one, but that was totally worth it!

I still havent found a racing sim on ANY platform that hit me as much as GT2 !!!

PGR4 is nice. But it AINT no GT or Forza !!!

On the modern front, any serious enthusiast would have to say Forza 2 is superior… the smaller selection of vehicles does hamper it somewhat…

But also, DONT forget CodeMasters - with their RaceDriver series !! That series is absolutely fantastic!!! Its got great physics, great graphics, plus the cars get VERY nicely damaged!!

But that is both platforms… I got a little confused whilst reading some of the comments above… I thought it was about your driving game of choice.. not what console is better!!!

And if Need For Speed *EVER* gets back to all the magic its lost since going “Underground” (groan).. well, that would be a complete blast too !!!!

But I guess GT5 will, no doubt, be the best… of its series… whether or not the best out of all the current sims, well… who knows just yet???

I have a 360, and honestly, I’m jealous of the PS3 owners getting Gran Turismo 5. Forza 2 is a great game but I like the GT series better.

  27. Mike on March 27th, 2008 12:37 pm

I have a 360 & ps3 forza 2 is good but every time i play i think i can’t wait to play gt5, i don’t think i will be dissapointed gt5 but the prologue isn’t big enough to keep me happy and i’ll go back to forza. PGR 3-4 are good but very different as it more about challenges than racing, unless you go online. looking forward to the new toca race driver game that will keep me going until march 2009 when gt5 will come out if were lucky…

  28. Wayne on March 27th, 2008 2:00 pm

I have Xbox 360 and PS3 so what I’m about to say next has nothing to do with cosole preferences, only game preferences.

Forza is a better at the whole driving simulation thing than GT based on my own driving experiences. Having said that the GT games look far better than Forza and have better racing tracks. I found Forza got extremely repetitive and dull fast going around the same tracks over and over again without any real competition from the AI drivers

I do like the PGR games because they require you do drive properly if you want to win, but at the same time make it much easier to do fun things like drifting.

I can’t see how any Xbox 360 owner could possibly be jealous of PS3 owners getting GT5, because there is nothing to be jealous of. If they really wanted it that badly they could just buy a PS3 to play it.

  29. Rob on March 27th, 2008 3:27 pm

I bought my original PS2 for 1 game only - GT3. I definately got my moneys worth from that game, and being able to use it to play dvds as well was great.

I also bought GT4, because I wanted the Nurburgring circuit, which is just amazing to play, especially with so many different cars to try it on, and each of them in different levels of tune.

Now that the format war is over, I think I’ll buy a PS3, and will get GT5 as well. I think I’ll wait till the price comes down a bit more though, and maybe GT5 will be out by then. Till then, my PS2 will have to do.

  30. Wes on March 27th, 2008 4:28 pm

I have a 360, and also a PS2. I have GT4 for my PS2 and loved it, so of course I also want GT5. I saw the GT5 demo at my cousin’s and got blown away, so now I’m going to trade my 360 in for a new PS3. Also, I want to get I am Legend on Blu-Ray too.

I definitely feel the momentum shift from 360 to the PS3. I didn’t think the PS3 was going to be catching up this quickly to the 360, but it seems like it won’t be long before being overrun in worldwide monthly sales.

I hate being a fanboy trying to defend a dying brand, so I’m jumping ship.

  31. James on March 27th, 2008 6:13 pm

Wes have you lost your mind? The 360 had slow for two months and you think it is the end of the system? The 360 was not available in my region for the last two months. Microsoft stated it was due to production lines being transferred from one company to another company. If 360s were on the shelf, the PS3 would not have done so well.

I own both systems and like them for different reasons BUT the Xbox 360 is definitely the system with the best games to date. Don’t start quoting games that are coming out for the PS3. Reminds me of on an old saying, “Don’t count your chickens until the eggs have hatched.” Sony’s system is notorious for delays.

Sounds to me like you are a Sony fanboy.

  32. Me on March 27th, 2008 6:15 pm

I’m in agreement with Nerull. I own a ps3 and will probably skip GT5 prolouge and GT5 if that ever comes out. The first one was WOW! and then it’s true…the rest were just graphical upgrades…plus those stupid license test…ARGH!

I can’t wait for GRID…this game looks like it will be amazing and a hella lot more fun than GT5.

  33. ChrisB on March 27th, 2008 10:22 pm

Lol, James, and Microsoft is just the jolly old best company on Earth, right? Go back to sucking Bill Gate’s dick and waiting for overrated, overhyped games.

  34. jes on March 28th, 2008 10:54 am

arent you guys getting off topic?
i own a 360 and i envy that GT is on ps3 only. But, i DO NOT REGRET getting the xbox 360. period.

  35. George on March 28th, 2008 11:20 am

to all thosse 360 fanboys who say that its not realistic due to the lack of destructable cars: the producer (i cant remember his name) is working with the manufacturers and is quoted with saying “it will arrive very soon” [damagable cars] and will probably feature in the full game once he has persuaded all of the manufacturers.
    ps3 owns 360

  36. tom on June 2nd, 2008 2:13 pm

    @SANDCRACKA

crapbox oh you mean the system that has all the games the best online service and is the cheapest next gen machine now and rrod is now fixed with the new 65nm chips? ahh you sony fanboys are running out of arguments on the 360 rrod was your only argument and it sucked

  37. tom on June 2nd, 2008 2:19 pm

george you are without a doubt a complete idiot by you logic the ps3 owns the 360 because gt5 might get damage who gives a shit we were getting this when forza 2 arrived we dont care if the worst machine gets it and by worst machine i mean

    1. PSN = complete joke
    2. home looks just as bad
    3. rubbish controller
4.gamespots latest graphics feature proved 360 is still winning in multi plat games
    5. ps3 has like 1 good game MGS4
6.dont give me that list of ps3 exclusives because only one stand out mgs4 and haze sucked like all the hyped up ps3 titles

SO IN CONCLUSION PS3 IS STILL NOT DOING ANYTHING GOOD THE WII AND 360 ARE DOMINATING IN GAMES

  38. bill on June 2nd, 2008 8:39 pm

i own a 360, but i didn’t buy it until august of last year, and i was debating whether i should by a ps3 or an xbox360.

for me, everything i learned about the two systems led me to purchase my 360 and not a ps3.

i have no regrets - i love my 360 and all of the games that i have for it, the fact that all my friends are on XBL, XBLA games, the fact that i can wirelessly stream my entire music library through my home stereo, etc.
