Nuclear technology for third world

We have heard so much about how the US wants to protect us all by stopping terrorists getting their hands on Nuclear bombs, but we are hearing today that the United States want to give Nuclear technology to the third world. The Inquirer reports “he same government which fills the world with fear of what might happen when terrorists get their paws on nuclear material has plans to make a fortune bringing the technology to unstable regions”.

In the 2009 budget, the Bush administration have allocated $20 million for the US Department of Energy’s efforts to design 250-to-500 megawatt nuclear power plants, these countries will have to promise they will only use nuclear power for civilian purposes.

Can we take their word for it?
