We know that the format war between HD DVD and Blu-ray is over, and it was the latter that was victories. However if Blu-ray thought that they could take it easy, then they will have to think again.
Many people in the industry are now saying that there could be another format war coming. The contender to Blu-ray is HD VMD. This format is made by a London company called New Medium Enterprises.
There are two things that HD VMD have going for them, the first is that the quality is much the same as Blu-ray and the second is that it has a lower price. Could this be enough to help HD VMD take on the king of format Blu-Ray?

Not in a million years. Everyone’s so happy to have settled on one format now that they’d be crazy to even consider another, at least in terms of movies etc.
We just got rid of a format that was exactly as good as Blu-Ray, and was less expensive. Nobody will spend a dime on HD VMD unless it is demonstrably superior to Blu-Ray.
If this HD VMD has the same storage capacity as blu-ray it could be something, but if not then is dead already.
HVD is the future, until then Blu-Ray and/or DVD will suffice. HVD is truly next-gen.
Sony spend too much time promoting Blu Ray which was costly and in the end could lose out to the Nex-Gen HD Digital Download and HVD (Holographic Versatile Disc).
At Bluray prices I would welcome something more pocket friendly. But what are the specs?
