It has been clamed by Robbie Bach who is the Xbox 360 Microsoft Entertainment and Devices division president that the Xbox 360 still has the edge on PS3 and Wii, and this is said to be thanks to Xbox Live but what do you think?
Robbie has said that they have more than ten million subscribers at the moment and offer an unparalleled online experience.
At the moment there are rumours circulating around the net that suggest the 20GB hard drive for the Xbox 360 will be phased out for a 60GB model now whether this is true or not guess we will have to wait and see.
So, has a paid online service (Xbox Live) gave the Xbox 360 the edge in your view?

DJB, I would rather have a console without in-game XMB initially, than a console that has a 15%-33% chance of malfunctioning.. Games are a matter of opinion, and no matter what you say, or anybody else, a great game to one person is mediocre to the next. I really don’t buy this, “360 has better games” argument.
Well, I guess I’ll stick with my library that has more than five titles worth playing on it.
I have both systems and the only reason the PS3 gets used is for playing Blu-Ray discs and as a multimedia hub. In those things, it excels. But for the sheer variety that the 360 has RIGHT NOW (not potential, not “Just you wait until such and such game comes out” but for games I can actually put in the system and actually play), the 360 has the edge.
At least I have both systems and can actually make an informed opinion. I’m just as excited about Home and Little Big Planet as anyone, but it’s a very guarded optimism based on Sony’s recent history.
Wait a minute, I’ll give the PS3 10 titles…To me, Burnout, Oblivion and Orange Box are probably just as good on both systems, even if you wont see much of the DLC (free maps, etc) for Team Fortress on the PS3.
No matter how many game names your splurge out, you can’t change the fact that games are different for different people, and saying this system is better because it has better games, is just a clear indication of rabid fanboyism.
Nah, fan boyism is having an opinion about something you’ve never played. At least I can say I have played everything worth playing on the PS3 and the 360. Yes, RROD sucks. But so does the initial lack of developer support on the PS3, the delays and lack of community options. Both systems were released too soon.
And now the 360 is priced cheaper than the Wii in Europe…
To be fair, 360 had a lack of developer support in its first year. Compare its first years game to those of the PS3, there is a clear difference.
I’d honestly get a 360, if the failure rate wasn’t so dismal…. The Wii just doesn’t do it for me…I got bored with it even when a friend brought it over lol….
Sony has work to do…I’m not going to deny it. The PSN needs some heavy work, and the next installment of games that made most people buy a PS2, need to come out for the PS3 (GT, MGS, Onimusha 2, Wipeout, Tekken, etc…) and the games/apps that have heavy hype on them (Haze, Killzone 2, Home, LBP, 8 Days etc…) need to come out also. Sony is really starting to hurt for lack of those major titles… But, the games they do have out are quite fun, and some are amazingly addicting. Sony’s library isn’t even remotely as big as the 360, or diverse as the Wii, but it’s a good blend of both, and offers more as a machine to boot. So, I went with the PS3. I think in the long run, the PS3 does have the clear advantage…but, as I stated already their games need to start coming out…
Oh yeah, and if Steel Battalion 2 comes out for the 360. I’m so totally there. Hands down the best Mech game ever created. (Sort of like Gran Turismo vs. any other racing game ever).
Morne
I own both systems and the PS3 is the only one to get played at the mo, Halo 3 was a letdown and Gears of War and Bioshock are the only other exclusive games that I think are good for the 360, GoW was a system seller for me but they have never made a game to that standard since. PS3 has some great games I love resistance and motorstorm, warhawk, uncharted, heavenly sword and folklore but I don’t think any of these games except MS and RFoM are up to the standards of GoW.
Now I am plying multi platform releases on my Sony because of the free online CoD4 and Devil May Cry 4 really though it is all down to what games are coming out the only games I look forward to on the 360 are Fable 2 and GoW2 but on the PS3 I am lokking forward to MGS4, FFXIII, Littlebigplanet, Home, GT5, Haze, Killzone 2, Disgaea 3, as well as all the multi platform releases. I think Xbox 360 had an edge but it is slowly losing it and with blu ray winning the HD format war and the price cuts and better MGS4 DS3 PS3 packages comming soon I think the PS3 has to be the console of choice for both gamers and movie buffs alike.
Wii FTW. Especially with Mario Kart + Smash
Im reading all comments on here and it is truly interesting to see someone with both syatems debate with another without. Point in case is I have a 360 which is what I am truly always going to back. Solely because its the only american made console to ever truly compete. Ill back it for that reason alone. There are some games however that I wich I could play, but the sad fact is they will never come to the 360. Sucks, but its the truth. Exclusive is no longer as important as in the last gen, because everyone is not going exclusive and sony cant just buy titles like for the PS2. They now have a solid contender. So whether its 360 or PS3 until this thing comes to an end its going to be one hell of a ride. I just hope the 360 prevails in the end.
