Microsoft’s Robbie Bach: Xbox 360 has edge on Sony PS3 & Nintendo Wii thanks to Live
It has been clamed by Robbie Bach who is the Xbox 360 Microsoft Entertainment and Devices division president that the Xbox 360 still has the edge on PS3 and Wii, and this is said to be thanks to Xbox Live but what do you think?

Robbie has said that they have more than ten million subscribers at the moment and offer an unparalleled online experience.

At the moment there are rumours circulating around the net that suggest the 20GB hard drive for the Xbox 360 will be phased out for a 60GB model now whether this is true or not guess we will have to wait and see.

So, has a paid online service (Xbox Live) gave the Xbox 360 the edge in your view?

Definitely has the edge in the worst reliability rate of all time..in anything. wtg Microsoft, really did a good job there.

    Hmmm…lets see

Flow…and a bunch of stupid Playstation Eye “games” or games like Puzzle Quest, Exit, Carcassonne, Lumines, Poker Smash, Small Arms, Bomberman, Worms, Extend Every Extra or Commanders.

A service where you get at least one new game every week, or a service that basically gives you demos and trailers most of the time?

Besides a couple of the PSONE classics, The only games worth playing on the PS store right now are Flow, Pain and Super Stardust HD. Loco Roco was okay…

Xbox 360 blows is has nothing failure this article is so biased full of crap lies. PS3 is the only real next gen gaming system.

  5. DJB on March 10th, 2008 3:40 pm

    LOL at the FPS comment..

    Unreal Tournament
    Resistance Fall of Man
    Ratchet and Clank
    Uncharted…

The games you guys all brag so much about are shooters.

  6. fghdshhh on March 10th, 2008 3:45 pm

It has the edge, really? LOL

Does it have MGS4, GT5, FF13, Killzone 2, Haze, littleBigPlanet, The Agency, God Of War 3, The Getaway 3, Resistance 2, Motorstorm 2 and Tekken 6 all coming exclsuively over the next 12 months or so like the PS3 does?

If you look at the last 2 major online multi platform games (Burnout Paradise & COD4) the PS3 online gameplay is better.

The 360 certainly used to have the edge but that was because PSN has only just been launched. When the in game XMB and Home come along the PS3 will be vastly supiriour and still free.

  8. Shelt on March 10th, 2008 4:22 pm

DJB, Ratchet and Clank and Uncharted aren’t FPS, flippin tool.

  9. oh yeah?! on March 10th, 2008 4:57 pm

    @shelt

Milk comes from cows, the sky is blue and tires are made of rubber.

What was the point of your comment, it’s not like anyone said those games were FPS?

    common man get with it.

  10. DJB on March 10th, 2008 5:14 pm

Dude…they’re 3-D and you shoot things…whats the effing difference? You flippin puppet.

The fact is, you sony fan boys have this fantasy that the XBOX 360 is somehow going to go away

YOU arent TRUE GAMERS. You are just a bunch of puppets who worship a corporation. A Gamer is someone who wants to play great games no matter which platform they are on.

If you want to deny that Mass Effect, Bioshock, Gears of War, etc are crap based on this blind faith, then go for it. The rest of us will own as many consoles as we can get our hands on so we are never limited.

The PS3 will never catch up to XBOX Live…sorry, every week we get up to three new games…what has PSN offered? Every weekend I log on and go…oh, yay..more demos and Rock Band music for a system that doesnt even have voice chat for Rock Band and comes out two days later. Now Les Paul support either because Sony doesnt have the balls to stand up to Activision.

I’m excited about PS3’s potential…but so far, not much has been delievered outside of Warhawk and Ratchet and Clank. Uncharted was just Gears of War in a Tomb Raider dressing with better acting…I didnt even bother finishing it as I didnt really want 20 minute firefights in what I thought was an action adventure game.

I’ll hold judgement about these “Great Exclusives” until I actually see them. Remember the hype that Lair received? What a turd that turned out to be.

Resistance was just another 3-D shooter. Fun, but really didnt bring much new to the table.

Oh, and if you want to talk about Burnout…how about the fact you cant listen to your own music on the PS3? How annoying. Sony should have had an XMB at LAUNCH.

  11. Shelt on March 10th, 2008 5:33 pm

DJB, I would rather have a console without in-game XMB initially, than a console that has a 15%-33% chance of malfunctioning.. Games are a matter of opinion, and no matter what you say, or anybody else, a great game to one person is mediocre to the next. I really don’t buy this, “360 has better games” argument.

  12. DJB on March 10th, 2008 5:39 pm

Well, I guess I’ll stick with my library that has more than five titles worth playing on it.

I have both systems and the only reason the PS3 gets used is for playing Blu-Ray discs and as a multimedia hub. In those things, it excels. But for the sheer variety that the 360 has RIGHT NOW (not potential, not “Just you wait until such and such game comes out” but for games I can actually put in the system and actually play), the 360 has the edge.

At least I have both systems and can actually make an informed opinion. I’m just as excited about Home and Little Big Planet as anyone, but it’s a very guarded optimism based on Sony’s recent history.

  13. DJB on March 10th, 2008 5:41 pm

Wait a minute, I’ll give the PS3 10 titles…To me, Burnout, Oblivion and Orange Box are probably just as good on both systems, even if you wont see much of the DLC (free maps, etc) for Team Fortress on the PS3.

  14. Shelt on March 10th, 2008 6:01 pm

No matter how many game names your splurge out, you can’t change the fact that games are different for different people, and saying this system is better because it has better games, is just a clear indication of rabid fanboyism.

  15. DJB on March 10th, 2008 6:44 pm

Nah, fan boyism is having an opinion about something you’ve never played. At least I can say I have played everything worth playing on the PS3 and the 360. Yes, RROD sucks. But so does the initial lack of developer support on the PS3, the delays and lack of community options. Both systems were released too soon.

And now the 360 is priced cheaper than the Wii in Europe…

  16. Shelt on March 10th, 2008 7:27 pm

To be fair, 360 had a lack of developer support in its first year. Compare its first years game to those of the PS3, there is a clear difference.

  17. Mornelithe on March 10th, 2008 9:39 pm

I’d honestly get a 360, if the failure rate wasn’t so dismal…. The Wii just doesn’t do it for me…I got bored with it even when a friend brought it over lol….

Sony has work to do…I’m not going to deny it. The PSN needs some heavy work, and the next installment of games that made most people buy a PS2, need to come out for the PS3 (GT, MGS, Onimusha 2, Wipeout, Tekken, etc…) and the games/apps that have heavy hype on them (Haze, Killzone 2, Home, LBP, 8 Days etc…) need to come out also. Sony is really starting to hurt for lack of those major titles… But, the games they do have out are quite fun, and some are amazingly addicting. Sony’s library isn’t even remotely as big as the 360, or diverse as the Wii, but it’s a good blend of both, and offers more as a machine to boot. So, I went with the PS3. I think in the long run, the PS3 does have the clear advantage…but, as I stated already their games need to start coming out…

Oh yeah, and if Steel Battalion 2 comes out for the 360. I’m so totally there. Hands down the best Mech game ever created. (Sort of like Gran Turismo vs. any other racing game ever).

I own both systems and the PS3 is the only one to get played at the mo, Halo 3 was a letdown and Gears of War and Bioshock are the only other exclusive games that I think are good for the 360, GoW was a system seller for me but they have never made a game to that standard since. PS3 has some great games I love resistance and motorstorm, warhawk, uncharted, heavenly sword and folklore but I don’t think any of these games except MS and RFoM are up to the standards of GoW.

Now I am plying multi platform releases on my Sony because of the free online CoD4 and Devil May Cry 4 really though it is all down to what games are coming out the only games I look forward to on the 360 are Fable 2 and GoW2 but on the PS3 I am lokking forward to MGS4, FFXIII, Littlebigplanet, Home, GT5, Haze, Killzone 2, Disgaea 3, as well as all the multi platform releases. I think Xbox 360 had an edge but it is slowly losing it and with blu ray winning the HD format war and the price cuts and better MGS4 DS3 PS3 packages comming soon I think the PS3 has to be the console of choice for both gamers and movie buffs alike.

Wii FTW. Especially with Mario Kart + Smash

  20. deyojie on March 11th, 2008 3:19 pm

Im reading all comments on here and it is truly interesting to see someone with both syatems debate with another without. Point in case is I have a 360 which is what I am truly always going to back. Solely because its the only american made console to ever truly compete. Ill back it for that reason alone. There are some games however that I wich I could play, but the sad fact is they will never come to the 360. Sucks, but its the truth. Exclusive is no longer as important as in the last gen, because everyone is not going exclusive and sony cant just buy titles like for the PS2. They now have a solid contender. So whether its 360 or PS3 until this thing comes to an end its going to be one hell of a ride. I just hope the 360 prevails in the end.

  21. Mornelithe on March 11th, 2008 8:57 pm

I dunno, maybe if MS concentrated less on the 360, and more on their core technology, Vista wouldn’t be failing so miserably.

@ DJB - I can understand the rant against true fanboys. But you’re a retard if you think Sony isn’t working on getting the PSN up to snuff with the current demands of gamers. Yes, XBL offers more, hey guess what, XBL has been around for 2 years more than the PSN….holy moly! Learning is fun! So yeah, while at the moment, PSN is lacking, it’s funny that it’s already more open-ended in MANY ways than XBL (150m cap on games? rofl). Enjoy your dorked Bionic Commando and Street Fighter HD. And hey, I’m sure no Xbox user minds having a dumbed down version of UT3, because MS sure isn’t going to open their network to user created content. Too bad too. So yeah, when the PSN is 3 years old, go ahead and add your critiques (btw, the PSN WILL eventually be bigger, because there are more PS1/2 games than all Wii+Xbox1+360 games combined), but until then, seriously, show a little class…as you say, the PS3 isn’t going anywhere either, especially with it whomping the 360 in Europe and Asia.

By the way, Gears of War does suck, I’ve played it, my friend has a 360, and sorry, we as a civilization, I believe, have come to a point where we should expect a shot to the head or 2, will kill someone. My idea of fun, does not include unloading a clip into somethings face, only to have it react in the same manner as if I’d shot it in the foot. Seriously lame.

But, Mass Effect and Bioshock were good games.
