Most likely thinking that it would be plain sailing to get into the mobile phone business, it looks like Garmin have made a big mistake/ They are now facing a lawsuit over the Nuvifone.
Apparently they have crossed trademark boundaries and internet telephone provider Nuvio Corp, feel that Garmin are stepping all over their good name. P Talley, the company CEO said “Our customers commonly refer to our service as the Nuvio phone,” they are wanting Garmin to cease using the name Nuvi in all of its products.
Ted Gartner who is a spokesperson for the company said that they have been using this name since 2006 in North America. He went on to add that he will not be discussing the pending litigation.
