Garfield Minus Garfield: removing the cat from the comic

When you remove Garfield from Garfield comic strips it will never be the same again because you are going to have one sad and lonely Jon Arbuckle.

Jon will be on a journey deep into the tortured mind of an isolated young everyman as he fights a losing battle against loneliness.

Should Garfield be put back into the comic strip or is it better with out him?
