The next Sony PS3 firmware update (2.11) could include many extra features (HOME) but some are already being asked for, some gamers have asked for NTFS support instead of the current FAT, because they want to be able to play high definition files over 4GB.

the YLOD is not a symbol of crashing/death for the PS3. it is merely an over heating indicator. I’ve seen it happen on my system repeatedly when I had it chucked away at the corner of the room near the heating vent. Took me a while to figure it out, but once i put it out in the open end, I’ve never seen the problem.

ylod? whats that i want in game xmb, in-game chat, do anything in chat e.g. download surf web watch vids play music/ display what users doing if im surfing web or watching a video i want to have the choice of other ppl being able to watch them 2 and i want custom avatars. but as its 2.11 only 0.01 difference therefore indicates that its a small update like more divx support. my psn id is Don_Corleone_Z add me. oh P.S. I want to be able to send ppl videos music and ut3 mods basically all files upto 1gb or something like that.

  4. martin says:

no the ylod is not a over-heating issue….it happens when the spindle has to b replaced nside the ps3…..chckd wd sony

  5. stevie says:

2.11? I’ll bet you 6 trillion dollars that there is no 2.11

A 0.01 firmware is a fix to a problem presented by the earlier firmware.

NO fixes need to be made.

The next firmware will be 2.2

good point stevie, although i highly doubt that accuracy on the update number was the primary interest in this article, is always good to learn something new everyday… thanks mate

Apart from the already future update of In-Game XMB.
I think they should work on further media support, attempting to build the system, into a play any media sort of system.

Sure they added divx support, but one little hickup in the movie transcoding and the system throws a fit and gives errors, then starts from the start, which is pretty annoying.

Damn there are so many things I want out of the next update….
The most important ones would have to be: Support NTFS, fat32 is a lame waste of time.
Also it really needs to support more video codecs and containers. I have written to sony a couple of times trying to explain this but I don’t think they really understand what the heck I am talking about! Hopefully it’s just the dumbass in the cust service centre that doesn’t understand. I really want to make the ps3 my media hub and try to limit the use of my tvix and media centre cause the ps3 has the capabilities and is nearly always on anyway.

  9. I think the update should have more interactivity, like the Wii has, that way it would appeal to a wider audience.
