It seems like there is competition looming in the way of in-game advertising and according to CEO Sir Howard young people do not like advertising very much. On a personal note I would hate to see adverts splattered all over the place whilst I am playing games.
You know like playing the Sony PS3 for example and opening up the online multiplying section and all of a sudden you see crappy ads there. I want to play games and that is that.
Anyway moving on from my personal views it seems Sony have not stopped pursuing this path, after appointing Darlene Kindler to head up their in-game advertising efforts last October a report from AdAge says that Sony will indeed open up the Playstation 3’s advertising platform which will allow in game advertisers Double Fusion, Google’s AdScape and IGA to sell dynamic ads.
We know that about two years ago Microsoft acquired in-game ad firm “Massive” which allows advertising on the Xbox 360 platform.
The questions here what I would love answered are one being “Does this help marketers or gamers? And “Should they have in-game advertising?
