If you were in Austria last month, you would have seen Intel showing of their new Xeon Dunnington processor. This CPU is a 45nm six-core and is from the Penryn family, the problem is this was not meant to be public knowledge, but it found its way on to a few websites.
The Xeon Dunnington Penryn processor will replace the aging Tigerton processor, the older CPU is two 65nm Core 2 Duo processors that have been fused to work as one. However the new Dunnington will become the first Core 2 Duo processor from Intel that will have three dual cores. The processor will also have a massive 16MB cache.
Intel hopes to launch the new range of processor sometime in mid 2008.
