You got to love this one and it in fact brings up a question “Should they bring back HD DVD? Ok we all know that HD DVD is nearly dead in the water with Blu-ray being the successors but surely $16,900 for a Blu-ray player is a little steep.
The Goldmund Eidos 20 BD Blu-Ray Player has got to be the world’s most expensive which no one would buy unless you a nutcase with money to throw away.
Apparently Goldmund have just announced the Eidos 20 BD Blu-Ray Player which is the first Blu-ray player from a high-end AV manufacturer.
So what is so special about this player then other than it plays Blu-ray? Well some of the features include an AC-Curator power supply circuit which helps improved sound and picture plus elimination of vibrations that can make the video blur thanks to Mechanical Grounding construction, it also has a Magnetic Damper that can lower the reading errors.
To tell you the truth I do not care if they throw in a 1000 Blu-ray movies, I sill would not buy it, would you?

No HD DVD is no nearly dead. Hd dvd IS DEAD!
It amazes me that people still fall for this crap when digital signals are involved. Yeah I get so many read errors from my optical disc player. If only it had a better power supply and less vibration so the 1’s and 0’s would be more pure. I know some people use the onboard decoders on their players and output to analog inputs on their receiver, but somehow I doubt someone spending this kind of money on their system would be doing that.
Suckers!
I love my HD DVD Player, and wont be going Blu anytime soon, My Toshiba Upconverts to 1080p and looks awesome anyway. Blu Ray’s a little grainy on most releases…
I can’t believe people are still digging for excuses to talk about Blu-ray vs HD DVD. HD DVD is forever dead. Your article sucks.
I guess this player is profile 1.0 (obsolete).
This unit makes absolute sense for a couple of reasons:
1 - There has to be an ultimate model of anything to give us a minimum and maximum limits of reference.
2 - If you already own a Goldmund Home Theater, you can now upgrade to Blu-Ray.
Furthermore, if you dismiss this unit just because it is out of your pice range, then why not go ahead and dismiss ferrari, rolex, armani, and every other high end brand that you cannot afford?
Have you ever even heard a Goldmund home theater? If not go and audition one and then write a review….
