The Bourne Ultimatum won three awards at yesterday’s Oscars so it’s no surprise that both Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass are ready for a fourth Bourne movie. Previously both had said they’d do a sequel if the other would and with yesterday’s success proving the films are popular, it looks highly likely.
Variety have posted an article about Universal and the upcoming Bourne movie. It says,
‘More recently, [Universal’s chairman, Marc] Shmuger and [co-chairman, David] Linde landed Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon for a fourth “Bourne” movie, even though the director and star seemed ready to wrap it up after three pics.’
That’s all! No word on when, what and how. I guess we’ll just have to take what we’re given.
It’s likely that the fourth Bourne movie won’t go into pre-production until 2009 or even 2010. Afterall, Damon and Greengrass are currently working on their Iraq-set thriller The Green Zone for Universal with Damon working on Steven Soderbergh’s The Informant after that. Greengrass has also got lots going on in his diary, with They Marched Into Sunlight going into production as soon as the green zone wraps.
Still, it’s never too early to get excited about Jason Bourne is it!?
