Dust on Nintendo Wii and Sony PS3 gets all gaming time

Although I love the Nintendo Wii, I never seem able to give it any gaming time as the Sony PS3 gets it all. The Nintendo Wii has been collecting dust, but I gave it a good go the other day by spending £160 on some new games and played for the evening because some family were over.
That was 4 days ago and since then it has not been used again, but the Sony PS3 has had many hours everyday on games like Call of Duty 4 and Unreal Tournament III.
Am I the only gamer with the Sony PS3 and Nintendo Wii that has this problem, or do other gamers with both these systems find that the Wii only gets played when people are over at the most.

NO You are not !!!!
Do not cry about it
Wii Wii.
This will be happening more and more! the wii is just a party machine, nothing more! kids and grandparents and people who don`t know how to use a more complex remote! nintendo is and always will be for kids!
You are not alone, I don’t really buy any games for my Wii. But my PS3 gets all the new games coming out like Call of Duty 4, Unreal III, Drakes, and Devil May Cry 4. I have 3 Wii games, Wii Sports, Zelda, and Excite Truck.
Same … some initial ‘family’ time games, but we use the PS3 as our HD based family entertainment center for transcoded content, Blu-Ray movies, family picture slide shows, music and gaming.
It’s your own damn fault you don’t get good games like No More Heroes, Zak and Wiki, or Medal of Honor 2:Heroes. I’m 29 years old, and I can let you know the Wii isn’t just for kids or for old people.
It seems the only one’s who are saying this are teenagers(which ARE kids.)
Sadly this has been the case since I beat Super Mario Space Bee. I found I am not really excited about any upcoming Wii games. Strangely I’m playing Pixeljunk Monsters and Super Stardust HD more than anything else right now.
thats the same thing with my older brother!
but he plays my ps3! (he even brought fifa 08 just so he can play on it)
he has had the wii since it was launched and the other week i asked him if i could play on it so he got it out of his draw (that alone proves he dont play on it) and let me have it in my room for over a week! after about 5 days on it i got bored. i also checked his calendar and it showed me that he has not even played on it once a month!
i might buy it of him though just so i have all 3 next gen consoles and mainly for monster hunter 3
Sorry, but being a 3 console owner, my beautiful PS3 is the one that gathers dust. Although I have played UT3 and loved Uncharted and Heavenly Sword, I don’t find the time to play PS3 games that much.
The wii has had it’s dry spells for me. But I played the hell out of Excite Truck, SSX Blur, Prime 3, Batallion Wars 2, Medal of Honor H2, Geometry Wars, Mario Galaxy, RE Umbrella Chronicles and No More Heroes.
(And I’ll be enjoying the hell out of Brawl and Mario Kart this year as well)
Then for the 360 we all know about COD4 (my game of 07), Halo3 (it was ok), Mass Effect (ok, I’m still trying to get into it, but not an RPG fan), Crackdown…damn, I know I played a hell of alot of other games…can’t remember em right now.
Now come release of Resistance 2, I’m all over the PS3 for a week or so! Once the PS3 starts getting a steady flow of it’s big exclusives, maybe the wii and 360 will gather some dust.
Ok, lets see what will happen if there is a next generation PS4. Lets see if 360 and Sony will go to wii’s way or will they stick to the classic way? If they do change (which they will because it is all about money) then what will your next system be? Huh?
To Daniel: I think that that Wii is geared more towards casual gamers and non-games (I’m a casual gamer, myself), while the PS3 is gears towards the hardcore gamers. I may be incorrect in my assumption, but it sounds to me like you are a hardcore gamer. My advice: just try to get friends to come over more often (and I don’t mean gamer friends, I mean any random friend.) Chances are, they’d rather play Wii. This can help with your Wii not being used, might open you up to a different approach to gaming.
To Johnson: Nintendo is not “just for kids”. Sure, just because it doesn’t have as many shooting-style games or RPG’s as other consoles, doesn’t mean anything. There are a vast amount of other game types than just those. Many people (myself included) often prefer a game where we can sit (or stand or crawl or whatever) for an hour or two once or twice every 5 days. The style of games the Wii offers reflects this more that the games on the PS3. And just because a game is “simple to use” doesn’t mean it’s a kid’s game. It’s the same reasoning some people use when they say cartoons are for kids. And I’m pretty sure Southpark is not a kid’s show.
