Hairspray Leads The Way At Choice Awards
The London stage adaptation of Hairspray has swept the board at the British Theatregoers’ Choice Awards, winning a record seven prizes.

The hit show picked up the Best New Musical gong, while its stars Leanne Jones and Michael Ball scooped awards for Best Musical Actress and Best Musical Actor for their roles as Tracy Turnblad and the cross-dressing Edna Turnblad respectively.

Meanwhile, Daniel Radcliffe’s West End debut in Equus also proved to be a big winner the production won three awards including Best Play Revival and Best Newcomer for the Harry Potter star.

The awards for the only major theatre prizes voted for by the public, will be presented in a ceremony at the Lyric theatre in London on Sunday (24Feb08).
