100 billion Skype-to-Skype minutes
I’m not sure what figure is more amazing, the fact that Skype has 276 million users worldwide or that they have clocked up 100 billion Skype-to-Skype minutes since 2003 when Skype was launched.

This figure is counting Skype-to-Skype voice and video calls, and would you believe that adds up to a free minute of talktime for “every man, woman and child that has ever walked the Earth”.

What’s next for Skype and can Google Talk take more of their market share?

  1. J.A. Watson says:

Skype certainly does NOT have 276 million users! They MIGHT have 276 million user accounts. But they refuse to say how many of those are inactive, abandoned or otherwise out of service. It would be quite surprising if 10% of those accounts are actually still active Skype users.
