Yesterday we reported that Toshiba have finally pulled the plug on their HD DVD format, this sadly was a huge blow to the consumer electronics giant. So now that there is only one High Definition format left, and that is Blu-ray, one would presume that Blu-ray sales will see a huge surge.
People who purchased a HD DVD player will be kicking themselves now, and this is also another blow for Microsoft as they backed the HD DVD format with their add-on player for their Xbox 360 games consoles.
So it now seems a matter of time for Microsoft to launch a new Blu-ray add-on, and as the Sony PS3 already has a built in Blu-ray player, sales are surly set to increase. Just maybe we will now see a host of new and old movie titles being released much quicker than before.
