Doug Liman’s Jumper Tops US Box Office

Defying it’s poor reviews, Jumper has shot straight to the top of the US box office this weekend. The film, which co-stars Hayden Christensen and Samuel L. Jackson had a great opening, taking $33.8 million by Sunday night. This great figure put it way ahead of the second-place film Step Up 2 The Streets, which earned $19.66 million.

In third place was the dark children’s movie The Spiderwick Chronicles, which earned a respectable $21.4 million over four days.

In fourth place is the Ryan Reynolds comedy Definitely, Maybe which, even though it opened on Valentine’s Day, didn’t get the love it rightfully deserved and earned just $12.8 million over four days.

Juno remained to be a firm favourite, only suffering from a small drop-off. The film has raked in $124 million so far and it’s not looking to stop pulling in the moviegoers any time soon!
