First up is the Olympus E-510 (photo above), this digital SLR is small, light and boasts the very latest SLR technology, it’s reasonably priced (around $650 US or £600 UK) and extremely portable. The downside is the menus as they are a bit drab.

Another stunner is the Pentax K100D Super, although it only has six megapixels, this SLR takes great photos and it’s very cheap at around $550 US and £400 UK, the downside is the soft optics at times and slow menus.

Lastly on our top three is the Canon EOS 400D, this digital SLR will cost around £400 in the UK and it features 10 megapixels, shoots superb pictures, solidly built and very light. The downside is the anti-dust system that is tantalisingly less than perfect.
They are our choice for top three digital SLRs, what would be yours?
