NPD: Sony PS3 outsells Xbox 360 but Nintendo Wii gets first place in January

It seems that the Sony PS3 is nearly matching the Nintendo Wii in sales this January; it seems January was amazing for Sony’s newest home console and with beating the likes of the Microsoft Xbox 360; it was not that far from the Wii sales in fact.

The stats are as follows, Nintendo Wii 274K sales, Sony PS3 269K sales, Sony PS2 264K sales, DS Lite 251K sales, Xbox 360 230K sales and PSP 230K sales.

Ok there is definitely a long way to go but January looked good for the likes of the Playstation 3, the question is “Will the PS3 be able to stay ahead in the game? because we know they have a superb list of games for the rest of the year.

This year PS3 game titles include Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, Resistance 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, SingStar and LittleBigPlanet, not only that what about the Blu-ray emerging as the de facto high def standard and the new forthcoming PlayStation Home which is in the works at the moment.

    what is the point of home?
    Surely it would be easier if i could just do everything from my start menu?

    i dont want to have to ‘walk’ to do what i want, it should just happen.

    yes it looks good but it is ultimately useless.

    the only reason it will be a ‘success’ is because it is free. pointless, but free.

    After all the months of being beaten by the 360 and wii you still think the PS3 will make a comeback?
    rubbish.
    sony have failed, now we can get the same games with the same graphics of the PS3 for half the price on the 360, or the same games with not so good graphics but a tonne more fun on the Wii(plus all the ninty exclusives)

    PS3 has died and people still buying it are missinformed, or unlucky to be so thick.

    1: the 360 can not hold a gamelike uncharted, or mgs4 due to its crappy yesterday dics.
    2: the wii is boring if u play on ur own.
    3: the price of the ps3 is coming down.
    4: the games on the wii are the worse on any console.
    5: xbox’s die at the same rate as chickens.
    6: ps3 sold more consoles last year then the 360(8.8 – 7.8)
    7: ps3 has been outselling the xbox scince at the most last august.
    8: tese sales above are 100% legit and come from a major retail sales tracker called NPD.
    9: blu-ray will replace dvd in the next few years.
    10: the wii will never match the ps3 in terms of fun… the wii is a fisher price toy.
    11: stop f*****g ur 360 and welcome to 2008. its the 15th of february
