Star Trek’s Release Pushed Back To 2009

Star Trek fans prepare to get deeply depressed. Paramount have decided to delay JJ Abrams’ Star Trek’s release from Christmas Day 2008 to May 8 2009!

So, we’ve got to wait a lot, lot longer now but what is Paramount’s reason to delay the film? Well Paramount have said that they pushed back the release date to ‘maximise the business potential of a summer release’, which is fair enough, but I think the film would have been just as profitable if released at Christmas.

Star Trek will now be in direct competition with box office big hitters Wolverine and Angels and Demons.
