Xperia X1 debuts after Apple 3G iPhone
Sony Ericsson will be shipping their Xperia X1 after Apple’s 3G iPhone; with this in mind it does not seem to be much hassle for the iPhone…or is it.

While the Xperia X1 certainly resembles the Apple iPhone in looks and X1’s initial display seems a lot more like Apple’s software than Windows Mobile, but there could be a big advantage to the Xperia X1 with its OS.

While some may think with a 3G iPhone out, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 will not be much competition, they could be very wrong as past the initial screen of the X1 is a very familiar interface that is pure Windows Mobile and one that American users know well and feel comfortable with.

While I have had no problem with getting use to the iPhone OS, others have and may prefer one they know from the start, which is not as innovative.

Would you prefer an iPhone like device that has Windows Mobile?

Great, another “skin deep” UI customization. I was really hoping the X1 might show us something new, but if it’s just the old, clunky Windows Mobile the pretty front screen, I’d give it a wide pass. Old tech in a new suit, unlike the iPhone which has actually had a pretty serious dose of actual innovation poured into it.

3G iPhone? There is no such thing at this time, I’m afraid. The latest upgrade is just a storage-boosted version of the original.

I’m not a huge fan of Windows. However, I do really like how many apps it supports. I also don’t like that I must switch to AT&T to use the iPhone. Add in the great screen resolution and the Xperia is very interesting to me.

Windows Mobile is a great system, great suport and fantastic SDK to create apps, Sony Ericsson phones are always stylish. Since i dont expect this to be tied to a network, this will sell more than the iPhone, what the iPhone has more is only the wow factor, not much substance.

I really think this will be the mobile to have for 2008.

I’ve already joined XperiaX1.net and I dont even have the phone yet!

This is going to be a massive hit and hopefully redefine Windows mobile, showing Sony UIQ is old news!
