16% of all Apple Mac’s by 2008 end to be MacBook Air

It has been reported that there is high Interest in the new lightweight MacBook Air and that the sales are modest.
Of course everyone wants to see the world’s thinnest notebook and, naturally, some those will in fact get one. I know that we will be getting one in the near future.
Elmer-DeWitt reports that “Customers are more curious but less willing to buy the MacBook Air than they were the original MacBook, Munster writes in a report to clients issued this morning. We believe that 16% of Macs by the end of calendar year 2008 will be MacBook A
Elmer-DeWitt reports that “Munster and his team spoke to 20 Apple specialists on Monday. The impression they got was that MacBook Air sales are coming over and above the MacBook’s, and not cannibalizing Apple’s most popular model.”

I am a mac fan but like all Revision A (of a new form factor) products, I wouldn’t buy them unless I really needed it (or someone else paying).
The next version of MBA will probably fly off the shelfs. Again, Apple have released a product that will take time to create a groundswell.
Not to compare it to the iPod but that device was released with no fanfare and mildly curious reaction. Then woosh.
