Light absorbing nanowires have been grown by researches at the McMaster University in Ontario, they can absorb more sunlight than silicon ones. The challenge now is to improve the efficiency of the nanowires without a great cost being incurred.

The team has been led by Ray LaPierre which is a professor in the University’s physics department, he has three years and $600,00 to achieve the goal of making the nanowires more efficient.
