The End Is In Sight For The Writer’s Strike
By: Lucy | February 11, 2008
Hollywood is happy today. At last there’s an end in sight for The Writers Guild Strike. At an assembly last night at the Shrine Auditorium in LA, WGA President Patric Verrone and chief negotiator David Young told the huge crowd of scribes that they had a draft deal with the Alliance of the Motion Picture and Television Producers.
If this deal is passed, it’ll mean the end of the 14 week long strike.
The 10,000 or so members of the WGA have 48 hours to vote on the proposal. It’s likely many of the members will accept the deal.
The deal offers writers a share of the profits from content streamed or downloaded from the internet, as long as it’s not solely professional.
If the deal is passed, writers will be back at work in a matter of days and the industry will go back to normal. Plus, the Oscars will be given the full go ahead!
