Mobile World Congress: Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 vs Apple iPhone
By: Daniel Chubb | February 11, 2008
Emma wrote earlier about a press announcement that included details of the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1, this smartphone is part of a development deal between Sony Ericsson and Microsoft.
This deal was unveiled at Mobile World Congress and included developing a phone using the Windows Mobile operating system; the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 has an Apple iPhone similar 3-inch touch screen.
While the Apple iPhone is the current King of browsing the web and communication on the go, the Windows Mobile Xperia X1 is aiming for much of the same. Sony Ericsson’s Rikko Sakaguchi said “Our vision for the X1 is to deliver a seamless blend of mobile web communication and multimedia entertainment” and also went on to say “Xperia is our promise to deliver the premium experience anytime, anywhere, anything and with anyone.”
While the Apple iPhone is out now, the XPERIA X1 will not be with us to late 2008, so could that phone take some of the iPhones market share later this year?
The XPERIA X1 is a big step for Sony Ericsson as it’s the first time they have not used the Symbian operating system.

I do not understand how you can compare a pipe dream to something that is here today all it will do is confuse the market place and I do not have a iphone or plan to buy one.
the Windows Mobile operating system on a sony phone sounds like a good idea. can’t wait to get one .
