Grammy Awards: more on the winners and results
Following on from my post about Amy winehouse’s grammy, we now want to give you more details on the Grammy Awards, the winners and the results.
Amy Winehouse and Kanye West were the big winners at Sunday’s 50th annual Grammy Awards, each scoring multiple trophies but Album of the Year went to Herbie Hancock’s River: The Joni Letters, the legendary jazz pianist’s collection of Joni Mitchell covers.
Amy took home five trophies, including the best new artist award.
Amy also won best female pop vocal performance, best pop vocal album for Back to Black and record of the year for “Rehab.” She performed via Satellite from London.
Kanye West, who took home four awards for best rap album, best rap solo performance for “Stronger,” and best rap performance for “Southside” with Common and best rap/sung collaboration for “Good Life” with T-Pain.
Meanwhile, in one of the night’s most anticipated performances, Kanye paid an emotional tribute to his late mother Donda West, performing his hit song “Hey Mama”.
With them both recovering from personal tragedies in the past year, British soul singer Amy Winehouse and hip-hop star Kanye West were indeed the highlights of this year’s Grammy awards well done to them both.
