Amy Winehouse may have been absent from the 50th annual Grammy awards, but her presence was definitely felt.
Amy took home 5 Grammy’s including Best New Artist, Best Record of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
Check out the video of a shocked Amy Winehouse as she accepts her Record of the Year award and her performance video below.
As she collected record of the year for Rehab, Amy said that “This is to my mum and dad for my Blake incarcerated. And to London, this is for London because Camden Town is burning down.”
Amy was unable to attend the Los Angeles event in person after failing to secure a work visa to travel to the United States, but she appeared via a live satellite link from London, performing electrifying versions of her hits Rehab and I’m No Good in front of a small crowd at a recording studio.
It’s said that Pop singer Cyndi Lauper who won best new artist in 1985 jumped for joy as she announced Amy’s first win of the evening for best new artist.
