The all new Nintendo Wii game called Boom Blox which is a Steven Spielberg game, this new game releases May 2008. Oh boy Steven Spielberg is invading video games with characters as BLOX (Blocks).
Ok the game looks fun after watching the video which is shown below, but come on with massive films under Steven Spielberg’s belt you would have thought epic games would have been made, you know something with a kick in it, something strong with a great storyline behind it.
The game will have more than 300 levels, “a cast of over thirty wacky characters” and it seems to be built around letting players take on “Blox-laying chickens or…baseball-throwing monkeys” or even more stranger cartoon like grim reapers in tiki, medieval, frontier, or haunted themed settings.
Watch the video below and please do comment as I would love to know what you think of this garbage. Ok sorry maybe it is not garbage maybe it is good. I just think he could have given us something special.

Looks fantastic, really. Never thought I’d say that.
I wouldn’t have expected “the beard” to come up with a game like this either, but just looking at it, it looks pretty fresh and original.
Again, the Wii doesn’t have the graphics for sophisticated cinematics. But what it does have is the capability to explore really fun and innovative environments and action, so I think he’s really taken advantage of that fact.
I remember watching a clip of Spielberg playing with the Wii at the CES a couple years back, and he looked really captured by it. I guess he’s followed through and given us his take on it. Nice. I’ll be giving it a look, that’s for sure.
Looks great. If its anything like freakazoid then it will be well fun!
There seems to be a misconception abouthow games can become epic. To be epic nowadays, you have to have beautifully rendered 3d graphics, a score performed by an orchestra, a massive compelling story(longwitted in my opinion), and all sorts of other cliches.
That’s not true at all. If back to basics, tetris is epic, pacman is epic, donkey kong is epic. Today, I’m not to sure, but history will say that wii sports is epic.
If boom blox captures the imaginations of the masses, then Spielberg would live up to his name, if not, his forte really is movies.
