As Canada are on tender hooks for the arrival of the iPhone, and there will be numerous phones already out there that have been unlocked, there is word that a deal could be taking place between Rogers and Apple.

As there is no competition in Canada as Rogers is the only GSM network, there could be high charges for the data, but it is believed that there will be a new price structure and that would mean that users could possibly get unlimited dated for $20 per month.

The new pack would be known as the Communicate Value Pack, this will not only apply to iPhone users, but naturally other brands on the network.

I went to Rogers today to find out more about the plans. The Plan in question is only for “Rogers Approved” non-PDA phones. IE phones that can’t handle a lot of data anyway. So you can drink as much as you want as long as you use their thimble

Good point Rick. They will need to change that for the iphone or people will just decide that unlocked is they way to go. The only reason I’m still waiting is I want the visual voicemail. If it’s going to cost me an arm… and a leg, might as well unlock the iphone and just use the wifi. Like anyone will pay bills of $300+ just to receive voicemails and e-mails on the go? I have wireless internet at home, my office and most of the other places I visit regularly on my day to day basis. Apple doesn’t care if we unlock the iphone. They still sell a phone, Rogers will miss out on people like me though willing to pay an additional $10-$20 a month to have an unlimited data plan for the iphone. Oh well there loss.
