Cloverfield Knocks Sweeney Todd Off Top Of UK Box Office

It seems JJ Abrams Cloverfield has won over audiences both sides of the pond. Currently sitting pretty at the top of the UK box office, the mega monster movie has knocked the fantastic Sweeney Todd of the number one spot.

The film, which has been loved and hated in equal measures saw this kind of success in the US on it’s first week but swiftly fell down the chart - will this happen over in the UK too?

The pint-sized Eva Longoria went in at number three with her romantic comedy Over Her Dead Body, which sees Longoria as a ghost of a woman killed tragically on her wedding day and her quest to stop her husband from falling in love again.

Another new entry on the chart was Penelope, a film starring Christina Ricci as a girl with a pig face who’s looking to fall in love to break the family curse.
