This is some chip, not sure if you know anything about the Intel quad-core Tukwila chip but we have some great news anyway. The Intel Tukwila 2 billion transistor chip which is a worlds first is being launched at the International Solid State Circuits Conference.
The chip is expected to arrive in the second half of 2008, so what is this chip then? Well it is a 2GHz Itanium processor packs in more than 2 billion transistors, the only downside is that this chip will be going straight to the top and consumers will not see it in their computers anytime at all.
The good news is that all you IT people is that the processor doubles the performance of Intel’s enterprise-class, 9100-series Montvale processors with just a 25% increase in power consumption.

Looks like Tuwila will not be the first 2Billion transistor chip as it has been delayed till 2Q 2010
