43 people were killed and 85 wounded when two bombs went off in busy Baghdad Iraqi security and medical officials said a bomb that was hidden in a carton blew up and ripped through crowds in the popular Al-Ghazl pet market mid-morning.

The second bomb that exploded was a roadside bomb left another crowded market with casualties in southeast Baghdad’s Al-Jadida neighbourhood.

This is the worst in the capital for months where at least 43 were killed and 85 wounded is what a defence ministry official said. So far at least 30 bodies had been received at Al-Kindi hospital.

They have a disaster there and there are too many bodies to count with many of them just pieces of flesh, this is what one hospital official said. So far Al-Nafis hospital had received at least six bodies and that 25 wounded people have also been admitted.
