Universal remote controls have moved on a lot over the last few years, the last one I brought connected to my PC with a USB cable and let me update codes from online.
This gadget has been given the name of “TVcompass WiFi SR 1500”, although Engadget say “You probably won’t be seeing TVcompass’s SR 1500 universal remote released looking exactly like this or even bearing the TVcompass name”.
What makes this device better than my last is the WiFi abilities, this means you can get codes direct to the unit via the built-in web browser…no computer needed.
The SR 1500 (as its called now) features a QVGA display, custom guide displays, backup settings to a server, web browser supports Flash and J2ME.
We do not have any price information yet.
