Following our news two days ago about the SPY satellite that will crash into earth late Feb or early March, we now have an update for you from British amateur satellite watchers.
We said before that this earth bound satellite was around the size of a bus, and today we learn that John Locker has captured video images of the satellite.
The British amateur satellite watcher said that the satellite seems to be about four to five metres across and believe it weighs a maximum of 4,500kg.
The US military are developing contingency plans for the large spy satellite, which has a sophisticated, and secret imaging sensor. Gene Renuart, an Air Force General who heads The US Northern Command has said, “We know there is at least some percentage (of the satellite) that could land on ground as opposed to in the water”.
Satellite watchers are hobbyists who track satellites for fun; they estimate this satellite to be at an altitude of about 278km, and dropping 500 metres a day. The Satellite watchers network is worldwide.
