Sony PS3 120GB or 160GB bundle rumor. Ok we all love rumors and this one is the best because according to Ars Technica’s inside source there will be a new console bundle coming.
We all know that one Sony Playstation 3 has been discontinued which Sony will not admit to themselves. Basically the new rumor is that there is another model taking the 80GB consoles place and which will be bundled with Dual Shock 3 controllers, prices will apparently be the same.
The new model will have a 120GB or 160GB hard drive, good news for the fanboys then. The rumor does not say that the new SKU will have backwards compatibility, more than 2 USB ports or even memory card readers.
The 40GB version is ok for the masses, personally I have the 60 GB version which plays PS2 games so the new 120GB or 160GB versions will be a great addition, stupid seeing as they got rid of one model really.
The main question has to be “Why on earth such a big hard drive? Is there something in the pipeline that Sony is making that will take a chunk of the space up? Cool music downloads or video downloads or even some new addition for the Playstation Home?

Wow that’s great news. Hopefully it’s true, and I believe they’re trying to expand their memory space because in the future we might see ourselves attached with our playstation 3’s, we’ll start downloading movies, more games, and etc. The only thing I’m concerned about is the backwards compatability. I hope it plays all ps2 games as well as ps1 games. For the 80gb model, it only allowed some ps2 games. So if this is bundled with dualshock 3 and the rumors of the white ps3 are true - then my dream console would be this: White 160gb PS3, Backwards compatible (with all ps2 & ps1 games), Dualshock 3(white), multimedia disk reader, 4 usb ports, and of course wi-fi. That would be awesome!
Shadowpal2 I can tell you already that this new 160gb model will not have full backwards compatibility and will be the same backwards compatibility as the 80gb (if any). I doubt Sony would include the emotion chip with this version since it would cost them more money to make. If this model has ps2 backwards compatibility like the 80gb Im definately selling my refurb 60gb and upgrading to this since i want the Dual Shock 3 and extra HDD space, and the full year warranty, and also it will be even quieter and cooler. And the only ps2 games i play are GTA’s, Sonic Mega Collection, Crash’s, Jak’s, and Sly’s which all work with the 80gb. If this is priced around 400-450 I will be good to go.
Well sooner or later videos and music downloads will come ps3 online, it not a matter of if just a matter of when, given their own in house libraries, I would thought sooner or later.
I would not be surprised if this also came with device that allows you treat the playstation 3 as a tivo as well, which could explain the reason for extra space recording and keeping programmes.
This probably the most likely rumar I herd in a long time. To be honest I will say that one dualshock 3 is out it will probably come with all new ps3s it common sense that it will come with any new bundle, as they will want it as standard.
They are coming out with the Tivo-like service I saw video for the euro version its only a matter of time for ps3. thats why they need bigger hard drive. also dont forget movie rentals
