The 14th Annual Screen Actor Guild Awards took place in Los Angeles.
The Sopranos may be off the air at the moment but James Gandolfini took home “Best Actor in a Drama Series” and his on screen wife Edie Falco took home “Best Female Actor in a Drama Series”.
Daniel Day Lewis scooped the Best Actor prize and dedicated his win to the late Heath Ledger.
He said that “In Brokeback Mountain he was unique, he was perfect. He went on to say “that the final scene in that ground-breaking movie was as perfect acting moment as he had ever seen. I’d like to dedicate this to Heath Ledger.”
For her portrayal of a woman with dementia 66 year old Julie Christie picked up the Best Actress award.
It’s now said that the pair will now become strong favourite to pick up the Oscar next month.
