People who are wishing to purchase a new Ford Mondeo now have the option of ACC – Advance Cruise Control, it will set you back £1000, but how does it work.
This technology has previously been featured on the Volvo S80 and the Jaguar XF, the added feature is that the technology will allow you to cruise along, but will keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front. The ACC is fitted behind the front bumper and will make the car decelerate when the car in front enters the buffer zone, but once it is safely away the car will the accelerate back to the desired cruising speed.
“Collision mitigation is another benefit, with audible and visual alerts warning of situations that may lead to a collision.
“This collision mitigation feature is integrated into ACC, preparing the car’s braking system for immediate action. Once a risk is detected, pressure within the braking system is increased for a quicker response if the driver presses the brake pedal – saving precious seconds in an emergency situation.” Stated the Active Safety Supervisor for Ford, Volker Weinhold.
