MGM Mirage’s 3,000-room Monte Carlo Hotel on fire in Las Vegas
By: Daniel Chubb | January 25, 2008
There is a major fire at MGM Mirage’s 3,000-room Monte Carlo Hotel in Las Vegas; the entire Las Vegas Strip has had to be shut to traffic.
The fire has been proving difficult to put out and the BBC are reporting that the “firefighters have to get to the roof” and they have said the building has been evacuated and no injuries were reported.
The top floor is filled with penthouse suites and firefighters are not sure if the flames have penetrated the interior of that floor.
As a safety measure some of the neighboring hotels have been evacuated, we will update you as we get more news.

What a terrible tragedy, I saw the news yesterday and wondered about all the visitors there for vacation, or even weddings, and then I saw footage of a woman leaving the hotel dressed in her wedding gown.
We always consider Las Vegas a place that remains a worldwide leader in entertainment, but something of this nature brings you back to reality…that these things happen everywhere.
