This kind of video really is a hot topic debate and one which some gamers have had enough of, but Game Trailers have felt they should post an Xbox 360 vs Sony PS3 video that is a little more in-depth.
The video below shows a comparison of Burnout Paradise, you get to see the Sony PS3’s HDMI and component compared to the Xbox 360’s VGA and component. In theory the HDMI should be better as it’s known in the electronics industry to be the better connection.
The comparison does look good, but the game moves very fast and makes it hard to capture the same footage.

The only reason that Sony are playing catch up is because they are guilty of manufacturing a superb console which is not prone to failure. Microsoft got their foot in the door, but to what expense?? The RROD my friend. Next time I hope MS do not frustrate me and the other 30% of people who invested in cheap hardware.
@MDK
I realize the Cell processor is a super-computer processor. The PS3 is probably great at calculating statistics about nuclear radiation decay and the like, but gaming graphics are simply a different type of math.
The GPU on the 360 has a higher Fill Rate, more memory and a substantially less complex SDK which developers love. (Less Complex != Less Powerful)
Trying to make game developers write code that is completely balanced against 7 SPE’s, hah, good luck with that.
Burnout Paradise said their main platform is the PS3, so yea, in *this* case, maybe the PS3 achieves an extra +1 FPS somewhere along the lines, but the graphics power of the PS3 is not running at 30%, it’s more like 99%.
The PS3 is completely bottlenecked by their weak GPU. And that my friends, is the end-of-story.

If you don’t like that link, feel free to google ‘GPU 360 vs PS3′ for yourself.
(hint: you won’t like what you find)
There are plenty of reviews when it comes to computer gaming about this exact same topic. Put a Super-Duper CPU in a case and give it a crappy video card. Next, take a mid-range CPU and pair it with the Best video card. The second computer will absolutely smoke the first.
So go ahead and calculate large primes, I’m going to play some games after work.
@MDK
I do agree, however, that the failure-rate of the original 360’s was nothing short of appalling, disgraceful and embarrassing.
I’ve heard the newer models suffer from less RRODs, but time will tell.
I made sure to extend my warranty.

Hmmm…why then are the graphics and gameplay of Sony’s exclusives (though limited in numbers) so shockingly?? And a side by side comparison reveals that the PS3 has the sharper image on multiformat games? There maybe bottlenecks but I don’t think it will take developers such as naughty dog or SCEE to get round them. They seem to be exceeding the 360 in terms of sheer performance from my point of view - though the difference is marginal on multiformat games(but noticeable). And Sony have’nt forgotton why it is that games should be played - to enjoy! Not simply to play a mediocre offline excursion e.g. Halo 3, which serves as nothing more than a stepping stone to online play (which in my opinion is overated). A game needs to tell a story with depth and intrigue - MGS1 + 2 both captured my imagination for the entire time I played them and were both epic and memorable. Halo 3 was not. Interestingly enough, Halo 1 was the best Halo storyline IMO - is this because the developers did not waste valuble time concentrating on an online ‘life consuming’ mode?? Familiarity breeds contempt…when the game is finished…go buy a new one.
@ MDK
Don’t talk shit. I dare you to name 5 multiplatform that look better on the PS3. Every video comparison out there shows that the 360 always does better graphics. There is only a few exceptions. And thoes exceptions can be improved any day. example: Oblivion. You can keep for forever delayed games while we already play them.
@ Charles.
No need to be rude son. My 5 are as follows - Colin Mcrae: Dirt, Burnout Paradise, Assasins Creed, Oblivion (as you rightly above), and Need for Speed Carbon.
A video comparison on the internet is not the best way to compare peformance - it is dependant on the settings of each TV and console on which they are played. When you do it yourself you can control all the factors involved then you can judge.
I have either bought or borrowed the above games and tried and tested on both formats. You have probably looked on a 360 fanboy website and formed subjective opinions about it.
@MDK
>>why then are the graphics and gameplay of Sony’s
>>exclusives (though limited in numbers) so
>>shockingly??
You mean the games that dont exist yet? or ones you’ve seen low-resolution videos for? gimme a break, Metal Gear won’t be anything more impressive than Call of Duty 4. I’ll put money on that.
>>And a side by side comparison reveals that the >>PS3 has the sharper image on multiformat games?
You really are making things up. You bought a PS3 and are simply defending your purchase. I don’t believe you also own a 360 because your statements are not neutral, there is blatant bias on everything you say.
Also, besides graphics, one of the reasons I bought a 360 was the fact Microsoft is an American corporation. It’s the same reason I buy domestic cars. I take pride in my country and want to see it succeed. Not ship my money overseas.
So by that logic, MDK, I consider you a terrorist.
>:)
“Exclusives - though limited in numbers” - I believe is what I said in my previous post. Those exclusives are - Unchartered: Drakes Fortune - best looking game that there is on the market. If you had a PS3 and an HDTV you would realise that. The story line is superb and alot of fun to play.
Call of Duty 4 is a great game…but you just don’t understand what MGS is all about do you? The story lines are sublime and the graphics and gameplay are excellent - showing real balance.
Ratchet and Clank - another fantastic reason to play the PS3 - the game is alot of fun and looks great in a cartoony kind of way. The PS3 also shows how well it can cope with an almost infinate number of variables on screen at once.
You can disbelieve all you like. I own a 360 and a PS3. I was, for a 2 week period number one in the world on Las Vegas Boulevard on PGR3. I have also recently - last night infact, just downloaded the Devil May Cry demo on the 360. I own several arcade games such as Geometry Wars…Pinball FX…and have also downloaded classic demo’s such as Paper Boy and Sensible Soccer. So tell me how could I be lying about that?
It seems to me that your narrow minded subjective and pre-pubescant mentality governs everything you say. You can’t accept some people can own both consoles…and that there is substance to what I say…unlike your angry little statements.
Now…regarding terrorism. If you are telling me that you are an American and you are proud to invest in a Company such as Microsoft, which is happy to monopolise the global market in computing industry and will stop at nothing to monopolise everything else it can get it’s grubby mits on then … congratulations!! You really are inline with Satan are’nt you? As far as Americans taking pride in their country…that’s great. But don’t expect me to do it because I’m British you Tw@t!!
Exclusives such as Drakes Fortune, or Ratchet and Clank? Or F1 2006? Motorstorm?
They are all superb and not only look better than the most 360 exclusives but the gameplay is superior also.
Call of Duty is a great game, but to compare it to MGS is just lame. They are two different games and MGS’s storylines are absolutely sublime something which the COD series cannot claim to be (Well done to Infinity Ward for producing the game of the year though).
You don’t seem to be able to cope with the idea that anyone else could own both consoles and actually contruct statements with some substance, unlike the statement which you have been making which are unsubstantiated nonsense.
I own a 360. I was no.1 for 2 weeks on Las Vegas Boulevard on PGR3 - I recently downloaded the Devil May Cry Demo - I have purchased Pinball FX, Geometry Wars - I have downloaded several demos such as Sensilble Soccer and Forza 2 (aswell as playing Forza for a time). I have the FN3 wallpaper on my dashboard. I have over 8000 gamerpoints (not bragging about that - there are lots of people including my friends who have alot more). So tell me … how could someone who does not own a 360 know so much about it?? I am not anti 360 - I have just made a informed judgement on what I have seen and played.
If you are saying that you support Microsoft - the company which monopolises everything it gets it’s grubby little mits on to the detriment of other companies in the market then you really are inline with Satan are’nt you.
Now. If you are saying that you support America and wish to put your money into your own economy then - great. I’m all for that. Just don’t expect me to keep doing the same - I’m British you twat!
Err…I thought my first post did not post. Hence my re-written post which is slightly different from the first post. Doh!
