Well now is this a rumor or not because 8Bit Joystick are revealing that an inside source at Microsoft have just uncovered the main reason behind the so called RROD on the Xbox 360 and why it has a high failure rating.
It kind of scares me writing this because all you fans will get of your high horse and start crying, but what the heck you need to know (please do not kill the messenger).
The real reason and truth according to the source of the Red Ring of Death is that Microsoft have rushed the Xbox 360 in the hope that they beat the Sony PS3 to market, now seeing as they did that the lack in quality assurance leaving out the product testing was kind of left out.
All Xbox 360 gamers will tell you that there are no particular answers and in that one particular answer can be answered as the culprit for failures, but of course many different faults that can lead to RROD. Yes it could be the heat sinks or the bad solder joints or even the chips themselves can lead to the fault.
What is the truth? All we know is that Microsoft will never hold their hands and reveal the truth. Please read over at 8Bit Joystick for a more in depth look into why.
