Xbox 360 Premium Price Cut to $299

Its only just a rumour at the moment so don’t hold your breath but some unnamed person has tipped that Microsoft will be dropping the price of the Premium 360 another $49 on the same day that GTAIV gets released. This makes sense for them to do this as there are millions upon millions of people loving the GTA series.

To me this seems like Microsoft are trying to find a way to pull back customers as already they have lost many to the PS3 and Nintendo Wii due to the 3 red lights and Xbox live being down over Christmas.

What do you think is it too late for Microsoft? Has the Xbox 360 had its chance in the gaming world?

    microsoft need to cut the price more they can afford to this will give them a lead over sony which sony will have a problem matching. as long as they dont cut the quality of the xbox 360 as rrod has and still is a big problem. superb console when it works and i should know as mine is being repaired as it died just after xmas.

    Not only do I think this is definitely another way for Microsoft to get more consoles out, but it is a must for them to get the price down because the PS3 it’s becoming a threat to them starting yesterday…… Blu-Ray is getting closer to being the winner format, and the game lineup for Sony looks better later this year. Its only obvious that the price drop will happen to try and take some more steam off the ps3. Don’t get me wrong, the 360 has Ninja Gaiden 2 come out this year in which will be exclusive for at least a year. But unless Microsoft really steps up and do something about this RROD, 10 – 30% faliure rate….. (I think it is more like 60% because all of my friends including myself have had to render our consoles to Microsoft once myself, twice for others, and gotten a refurbished dirty 360 back)the same fate will be as close to a mirror as the original xbox.

    Microsoft with the xbox 360 is leading already.
    They have made the most revenue in consoles in the last2-3 years than PS# & Wii.

    You and Seattle Post Intelligencer are the biggest Sony puppets. This red ring of death garbage has been OLD for a long time, stop trying to create the illusion that the 360 is on its way down. It DOMINATED 2007 and it will dominate 2008 as well. If dominating an entire year is what your definition of “doing bad” is, then it’s perfectly understandable that you’d think that 2008 would be the PS3′s year. “It seems to me” that with the advent of the internet, uninformed morons like you can just make anything up and publish it. Microsoft has sold nearly 18 million consoles. What a way to lose customers!

    no way should they reduce the price xbox is superior console at equal price sony thinks they can make us pay five hundred to push their corporate strategy with garbage game portfolio you get what you pay for

    The PS3 is cheaper now in case you didn’t notice, the 360 elite costs more than the 40 gb. The 360 has also been out for two years now, and didn’t have any competition the first year. So, I believe it should have an advantage right now…
