Actor Heath Ledger, who shot to fame for his role as a gay cowboy in Brokeback Mountain has been found dead in his apartment. He was just 28 years old. Ledger, who stars as the Joker in the upcoming ‘The Dark Knight’ Batman movie was found dead with sleeping pills strewn over the floor.
Ledger had a massage appointment in the afternoon but, after being let in by the housekeeper, the masseuse was shocked to find Ledger unresponsive. Six minutes later, at 3.26pm the masseuse called paramedics after discovering the sleeping pills.

Heath’s death is being treated as a suicide. Ledger and his ex-wife Michelle Williams recently announced their separation – could this have been a factor in Heath’s death?
This, unfortunately, isn’t the first and won’t be the last time that depression overcomes a young star. Isn’t it about time that this disease (and that’s what depression is) is highlighted in the media?
