New Xbox Consoles Still have High Failure Rate Compared To PS3 and Wii

Gaming site 8bitjoystick have apparently scored an exclusive interview with an Xbox 360 designer. In the tell-all interview, the designer spoke about the console’s stability. He also revealed that, shockingly, the new generation of Xbox 360’s still have a pretty high failure rate compared to it’s rivals the Nintendo Wii and PS3.

Q: How much more reliable are the current generation of Xbox 360 than the previous designs? Original Xenon, Zypher and Falcon.

I’ve heard that the failure rates for the current design is sub 10%. Much much better, but still too high imho. And those designs haven’t seen much life yet, so no one knows if that failure rate will hold.

So, it seems that the Xbox 360 is still the least reliable console out there. What do you think Xbox fans? Are you annoyed that the new, smaller and cooler-chipped consoles still have a failure rate of 10%?

This news is up on vgchartz.com, the xbox fanboys on the site tried to shut down the thread and pretend nothing happened.

This was a great story, shows how shitty ms and their products really are.

yeah, what mean sub 10%? Less than 10% or minus 10 to the current failure rate 33% = 23%.

  3. persianhero says:

yeah i have had the ps3 since its lunch and it never had any problem. Its the most reliable console to get. xbox is fine but for a short time. ps3 is a long time investment!

    My chintendo vii never broke

I am fixing to send off my 5th xbox 360 for the 6th.
The first two were out of the box broken. The third played a piece of a game for 5 minutes. Then the fourth was fine for over a year, just out of warranty it broke. I spent 100 dollars to ship it to Microsoft.
Now 7 months later, playing Fable 2 I hear a beep and the screen freezes. It does this time after time.
My Xbox and power supply get plenty of air, so that’s not a problem, and there is no carpet to build up static to destroy circuit boards. Plus now its winter its cold everywhere.
Turn it on again there is the red ring of death.
The xbox is the SUCKIEST console on the market.
NO one has made a worse console.

I just got my first red ring of death and I think I might trade it in for a PS3

i had 1 xbox 360(the elite version, black one)and it broke just past my years warranty. i paid £260 and it broke….
i just went and bought a ps3 and im loving every minute i go on it. my friends had xbox which made me buy it but once theirs all broke aswell, most of us have switched to ps3.
    xbox-3/10 ps3-9.5/10
ps3 is better in every way, and even if there not, they just keep updating.
    screw microsoft.

my english is not that good, but i hope you guys understand me!
i have owned a ps3 console for about 2 years now, for the last 3 months
i have been doing some research trying to find out which console is
better (ps3 or xbox 360). Since my friends are xbox lovers
they have been trying to convince me
to buy an xbox 360…i found 100’s of posting showing graphics
comparisons, dvd upscaling, games available and so on…
i found out that they had been having problems with
their consoles, one of my friend said that it’s the third one that had
failed on him,. due to overheating problems! and they are happy because
they send the unit back to microsoft and they take care of it, but they have
to wait like 3 to 4 weeks(and they have to pay for shipping)…whow! i have seen them play and i dont see the
difference in graphics or whatever people compare. I think! based on what i
had read; i think they are both good, but i also think that the best console is the best built…(Just like pc and Mac)

      Knightowl,

You’ll be surprised how good your English actually is, compared to some of the other people that comment on here! :)

They could warranty it for 10 years but that’s not the point. The point is I’m tired of having to send it in every year or 8 months or whatever and then being without it. If I bought a car that had this many problems I KNOW I would have gotten a different one by now!
