Sony PS3 YLOD
Everyone knows about the Xbox 360 RROD (red ring of death) thanks to some 33% of games consoles getting this problem, now we have proof of the Sony PS3 death with a so called YLOD.

The video below shows a Playstation 3 with yellow lights, it sounds like a hard drive gone bad to me from the clicking noise as that’s what I have had with many PC hard drives.

Every product gets faults, but it’s just what percentage of that product that counts. We have heard around 1% of PS3’s have problems and why shouldn’t they, but this is nothing compared to the well known and joked about world-wide RROD.

In the case of the gamer that made this video below, his console has already been taken away by Sony.

Update:
raza514 made a good point, the sound is not coming from the ps3….it was there before he turned it on.

So Cadega runs windows in a Linux environment (I don’t know Linux) If so I think that has nothing to do with the StreamMyGames application.

So Cadega is not necessary we already know it “lacks the blah of a blah. For this reason blah aren’t possible on the PlayStation 3 through Linux”

I can read your posts and still see no point?

I loved my 360 and I am going to love my PS3 (I only like the Wii for its VC) I believe in competition and I buy games for the games not the corporation the property belongs to.

So yes I can run windows games on the ps3 with streammygame application and run Linux (osx?) for firefox and assorted apps this Ps3 looks more and more appealing to me all the time.

You where right about one thing though and that is that Halo 3 was way over rated.

Well if you admit don’t know what you are talking about is you shouldn’t make so many ignorant remarks.

The point was to chris. He said said what use was the xbox with this streamer and i said it works both ways because ps3 games could be copied also. You really are a moron if you re-read that twice and didn’t get. Don’t post to me again

You have a good point, Scott. There are YDL versions for the PS3, etc., and they all work extremely well. You could use firefox, yet the PS3 browser isn’t bad, but definitely use a keyboard and mouse with it. The combo should be good while playing RTSs and some FPSs on your PS3

    Fake, fake, fake.

This is just a way to make the PS3 look terrible. I won’t deny that the PS3 may have a problem for some people but that’s a tiny, tiny percentage. I’ve had my PS3 since August 2007 and it works fine. Sometimes it would freeze but when I start it again, it works fine.

    Nice try XBot.

this same thing happend to me yesterday when playing CoD4. It shut off n had a flashing red light. got up pushed standby button and it stopped flashing. pused it again and it powered on, green light, fan ran for a second, yellow light, 3 beeps, then flashing red light. i tried having it unplugged, and left it sit for a day thinking it might have overheated. the next day it didnt work. called sony, gave them my info, and they said they would ship me a box. i put my ps3 in box with form filled out and sent it back. they said it would take 7-14 days. cost was $162.04. to top that off, MGS4 is out in 3 days.

WELL FIRST OFF U GUYS MAKE IT SEEM LIKE PS3 IZ JUST THE GREATEST CONSOLE 2 EVER HIT THE WORLD, PS3 IS OVER RATED AND BORING THE ONLY THING GOOD PS3 OFFERS IS BLU RAY AND THATS THE ONLY REASON I BOUGHT ONE , AND FOR THE REC. I WENT THROUGH 2 PS3 BECAUSE OF OVER HEATING PROBLEMS, I NEVER HAD ONE PROBLEM WITH MY XBOX 360 AND I’D RATHER PLAY IT ANY DAY AND IF PS3 WAS SO GREAT WHY IS IT STILL LAGGING IN 3RD PLACE AFTER XBOX HAD 33% FAILED CONSOLE?

    “360 FANBOY 2 THA MAX”

  10. This isn’t a Ps3 bash guys. This is the straight truth and I’m really disappointed to bring this to light. I’m hoping it can get resolved. Again, don’t own an Xbox and dont plan on it. I actually bought a Ps3 because of the compatibility and I’ve always backed Sony. However, this just isn’t right. Please read below. It’s not important until it happens to you and it just may so take a look. It’s not about the money. It’s the principal and my situation involves more than just Sony. It’s the fact that even though you have a warranty nothing is ever easy anymore. Hope this helps some of you. I’m doing this because I’m a screenwriter/producer. Email me if you have any questions. Maybe we can help each other if anybody knows how to fix this.

Seems like a lot of people are having trouble. Check this out guys!

My 60g went out on me. I had warranty with Best Buy so I took it back there since I paid for the 2 year warranty. It wouldn’t power back on and my Saints Row 2 game was stuck in it. They could see that it was in the machine, but wouldn’t give it back or exchange it because they had to send it off. I asked for them to at least write my name down since they said they may get it sent back. They refused, saying I could just have it back and send it to Sony if I didn’t like it. By this time they had partially cracked the system, trying to get the disc out. I wasn’t too happy. I still tried to be nice and ask for someone higher up but the manager said she was it, so I asked for her name, took my exchange (which was a 80g no backwards compatibility system with 2 ports) and went home. I got home and called consumer relations and they said they would send me a gift card for the game.

I did however, get 200 bucks credit since the I originally paid almost 700 bucks for the system. I used the money and went to Best Buy the next day with my wife and bought Guitar Hero:World Tour and Rock Band 2 for use with the original Rock Band instruments. We also bought the Nyko media hub for the extra ports. We played Guitar Hero and a few other games, since I already rented Rock Band 2 for my 60g before it broke.

Finally we put the Nyko media hub in and at the time only my drums and mic. I put Rock Band 2 in and we played it for about 20 minutes. Suddenly it went back to the main screen. I tried to go back into the game again and it only showed a black screen, however it wasn’t locked up because I was able to use the controller to quit the game. I used the controller to turn off my system and it went to standby and flashed blue and wouldn’t turn off. I waited for fifteen minutes. Nothing, until I held the button in myself. I thought maybe it was a faulty system, so I took it back.

System #2 exchange. Got it home, 80g again same model number and put in Nyko media hub, instruments and Rock Band 2. Did the same thing.

System #3 different Best Buy location, different model number this time and Rock Band 2 exchange. Same freaking thing and only when I go to play Rock Band 2 and put Nyko media hub in. It’s one of these two things. Loved my 60g to death, used it as everything. To watch movies, blu-ray, etc. I have almost the entire Rock Band downloads and have purchased about 40+ Ps3 games alone from the store, not counting downloads galore. Gotta say, extremely disappointed. I called Sony, called Best Buy and called Rock Band support. Everyone says it’s the other person’s fault. Don’t know what to do. Just letting you know so this doesn’t happen to you. System is currently working and thinking about trying to take it back tomorrow for a final exchange this time for the 120g even though I already have Uncharted, and will pay the extra 100 plus dollars, just to make the horror stop. I just would like my Ps3 to work, lol. Everyone get the word out and be careful. I was a huge supporter of Sony, but something is conflicting here.

P.s. I talked to a Sony manager on the phone and her response was she has never heard of anything going wrong with the Ps3 system, or it having any problems. She said she has one and a few of her friends. I basically politely informed her that firmware updates do screw stuff up. I bought GTA4 and loved it so bought it for a friend and it locked up his system online until the firmware fix came out. I bought Saint’s Row 2 for my 60g and everytime I went to load it locked up my system. If I went to continue it was fine. I tried it on friend’s systems and it was fine as was their game. Only some people had this problem with their models. However, this many systems, two different model numbers and two different Rock Band 2’s, means something isn’t right.

Give me your input guys and gals. Thanks a bunch! This isn’t me bashing Sony. This is be stating the truth and so exhausted from messing with this problem I’m ready to just keep my Ps3 until it breaks and bite the bullet, which just isn’t right.
