Sprint Nextel planning thousands of layoffs: Virginia HQ could close

For those of you who work for Sprint Nextel you could be facing an uncertain future, especially if you work at Virginia HQ. According to KansasCity, Sprint is planning thousands of layoffs, and the Virginia HQ could end up closing altogether.

It seems that the company needs to show their investors that they are serious about keeping costs down to a minimum, and said that the planned layoffs and also the possibility of consolidating their HQ will send the right message to their investors. The wireless company Sprint Nextel has been struggling over the past year, and has been left behind by rivals AT&T Wireless and also Verizon Wireless. Both companies have been attracting new subscribers all year, whereas Sprint has struggled. However AT&T did have the Apple iPhone last year, which must have boosted their subscribers.
