iTunes movie rentals one of today’s macworld announcements

iTunes movie rentals
One of today’s Macworld announcements included “iTunes Movie Rentals” and this is a service that ties in with their other products like the MacBook Air as that has no internal optical drive because they want you to wirelessly watch movie rentals or files from Apple’s Time Capsule.

Although the service has around 100 HD movies ready to be viewed, we are hearing that “not all HD rentals are available with Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound…not good. Also because the iTunes HD movie rentals will be available exclusively through Apple TV, you will not be able to put these on your iPod, iTunes library, etc.

I would imagine that this will not stop many users as an online HD movie rental service not only tied to iTunes but also backed by many Studios will work (these include Sony, Universal, Paramount, Walt Disney, Warner Brothers, Fox, Lions Gate, Miramax, MGM and Touchstone just to name a few).
