Apple Mac Air vs MacBook Pro
So how does the Apple Mac Air compare to the MacBook Pro, well these hands-on photos by Engadget at Macworld 08 aim to show you (well by looks).

The MacBook Pro is still a nice laptop, although it looks at bit on the fat and old side put next the MacBook Air.

If we are talking thickness then there really is no comparison, specs might be a little different.

The MacBook Air is great but its problems and drawbacks stem from Apple’s struggle to force this in between the MacBook and MacBook Pro. The 64gb flash drive I can live with but the standard drive at just 4200rpm is a no-go for me. Also I would expect more than the 1.8ghz. I think Apple need to quickly rethink their approach in that a higher speed model is expected.

The Macbook Pro looks better, no contest. (And no, I don’t own one!) The most obvious aesthetic problem with the Air is the big fat bezel around the screen.
It detracts from the overall “light” feeling the designers tried so hard to instill. Making the edges curved and designing the MBA as a wedge, as opposed to a rectilinear shape like the MBP, is a tried-and-true way of making objects appear thinner.
Hell, my 17″ HP dv9000 uses this trick, but it’s still a cinder block! The truth is the MBA only 1/4 inch thinner than a MBP, although it thins out as it nears the front. I prefer the classic, razor-sharp lines of the MBP to the swoopy curves of the MBA which will look dated much faster (1st gen iBook anyone?)

I agree with Charles, the wide bezel around the screen is the 1st thing I noticed.

It gives the impression you’re denied potential screen real estate and makes it look dated, already!

You can´t compare the design of the screen on macbook air with the design of a mac pro becuse it isn´t a “new” macpro its a new verison of the macbook and it is exactly the same design as the “old” version of macbook. But i agree in the fact at a more straight design is more of the mac style and nicer look overall, the bendy design they have used in this one isn´t the most sleek and the designest they have made. But it is still a cool computer and i think a would get it wen my macbook finally gives up.

I have owned both the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro in the last two months. Putting aside the fact the MBA had to go back to Best Buy the MBP is a much better machine. The MBP looks better than the MBA and has a much more usable design. The wedge shape of the air makes it annoying to type on and the thinness makes putting your palms on the palm rest feel like you’re going to break it. It drove me mad just to use the thing. I loved carrying it arund because so many people said it was “sexy” but other than the “sexy” factor it’s rubbish and I think Apple either needs to lower the price considerably or redesign the thing.

hi i know the macbook air is nice because of its thiness and still has alot of battry power but i think it would be better if they added more then just two usb ports
and ya i dont like laptops that i can snap in halve

Are you kidding me? The MacBook Pro is clearly a better computer, there’s no need for discussion!
