American tennis star Andy Roddick has battled his way to the third round of the Australian Open; Roddick was playing German Michael Berrer. The Times reports that the match went on for one hour and 58 minutes; Andy managed to beat the German in three straight sets.

Sixth seed Roddick will now meet another German Philipp Kohlschreiber; he hopes that he will beat him so that he can make it to the quarter. During the match Roddick had five match points; however Berrer was being stubborn and tried to hold Andy off. Berrer fought well and surprised Roddick with his quick return serve, but the German found it too much to hold Andy off.
