CHUD.com are reporting that Liev Schreiber, who recently joined the cast of Wolverine: X-Men Origins, will not be playing William Stryker as first reported but Wolverines enemy Victor Creed.
The role of Victor Creed, or Sabretooth as he’s more commonly known, was once rumoured to be Gerard Butler’s, which I was much more happy about. Butler, I imagine, would have taken this role by the balls and done it justice.
Don’t get me wrong, I rate Schreiber as an actor but I think he’d be more suited to Stryker, the brains behind the mysterious Weapon X programme which gave Wolverine his adamantium skeleton and his memory loss.
But, according to the recent reports, Schreiber will be the villain, leaving the role of Stryker to Michael C. Hall.
Either way, the fact that we’re getting a Wolverine movie is good enough for me and I’m sure the casting will be on point. Filming will start in New Zealand very soon, with the movie hitting theatres in May 2009.
