I created the Nintendo Wii technology almost a decade ago

I created the Nintendo Wii
The photo above was taken from an eight year old demonstration video which a man called Patrick Goschy shows a gaming technology very similar to the Nintendo Wii system we all know today.

Nintendo’s Statement said “Mr. Goschy did not invent this technology or its use with video games…it is irresponsible to report or suggest that this invention relates in any way to the Wii system“.

First up for Nintendo to say “it is irresponsible to report or suggest that this invention relates in any way to the Wii system” just seems madness as any gamer looking at the video shown below can tell it does relate in some way.

Second Mr. Goschy as an ex-Midway employee had signed a deal when he left their company and as far as I can tell it means Midway would own the rights (I could be wrong).

Also Midway said they have a long standing relationship with Nintendo, so it sounds like companies make deals.

These patent suits are nothing but garbage anyway. Make that the entire patent system.

It’s like some old rock guitarist griping because he invented some kind of music so then he starts suing new bands because he was the first one to invert the 5ths in his chords while using phrygian scales in 3/4 time.

Back to the point here: I see the similarity. I see similarities in all kinds of things. But we’re killing each other’s creativity here. We’re limiting what organizations can do because of the patent system, and it’s simply unfair. If the Midway guy wanted money, he should have tried marketing his idea. I can understand him wanting money from Nintendo if they actually stole the idea from him. But, they came up with the idea on their own, so it’s bullshit that they are getting sued.

If I happen to write a book that’s oddly similar to someone else’s book, then that shouldn’t be a problem. That’s what happens in this world, especially when ideas cross so much. If my imagination produced the book, then it should be fair game. I shouldn’t have to back down just because some chump thought of the idea first.

If you think of it first, then go market it. Don’t sit around like a tick and wait for an animal to latch onto.
